The Marble: “A deepening”

Marble is a metamorphic rock composed by recrystallized carbonate minerals, known as calcite (a mineral). Geologists use the term “marble” to talk about metamorphosed limestone. Marble is commonly used for sculptures and as a building material. It is a rock resulting from metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks. This activity causes variable recrystallization of the original carbonate mineral grains. So marble rock is tipically composed by an interlocking mosaic of carbonate crystals. Primary sedimentary textures and structures of the original carbonate rock (protolith) have typically been modified or destroyed. These various impurities have been recrystallized by the intense pressure and the heat of the metamorphism. This is a brief description which is refers about the metamorphism of the marble.
