Differences and contact points with other stones
From the geological point of view, marble is a metamorphic rock whose main component is calcite, while the change in the other components confers it the various streaks and colorings that characterize it, in its many variations.
From the commercial point of view, however, the term indicates any stone material that can be cut and polished.
This improper use over time has generated the misunderstanding for which, for example, the stone of Trani, included our Biancone, is considered a marble even if it has completely different characteristics from the geological point of view (and consequently aesthetic).
