Description
The term Chianca, an ancient typology of floor, has a medieval origin and it means stone slab, still present especially in the territory of Apulia, symbol of an ancient art and culture of a population that over the years has been able to exploit the stone extracted and predominantly present in its subsoil having limestone as geological matrix.
Extracted during stone removal in order to obtain cisterns, the largest rebound material pieces were used for masonry in elevation, while thinnest stone layers but nevertheless with a thickness no less than 8/15 centimeters were used as floor.
