Law Din 51130: Method of the ramp

The natural stone surely represents a safety element, in the moment where it is laid, to make the external and interior design space. In fact, for each use of the flooring, there is a specific range, which is called “R”, introduced by a German Law, “DIN 51130”, more commonly known as “the method of the ramp”. It is possible, in this case, to provide a direct determination of the slipperiness, to be applied in floorings of any kind (stones, agglomerates, ceramics, wood, glass, metal, etc.). There are different “R” intervals, but in particular it is required:
the “R9” coefficient is useful for: living rooms, canteens, recreational areas and classes in schools, etc.; the “R10” coefficient is used for wineries, outdoor areas suitable for sales, outdoor stores, covered garage and basement, corporate walkways, etc.; the “R11” coefficient is used for the maintenance of water pipes, for the external business feed zone. etc.; the “R12” coefficient is suitable for loading ramps which aren’t covered, parking stations of firemen, and places of work and food treatment. The respect about the coefficients described, referred to the materials used in buildings, are very important to guarantee the safety of people.
